CLUB EGM 28th January 7pm

Updated: 5 days ago

As many of you will know the club has decided to take up the opportunity to extend the Club’s lease to include the area that was previously used by the Bowls Club. Although we used it during the summer of 2025, this was just a one year agreement, while we worked out how we could best utilise the facility. Including the area in the Club’s lease is important for two reasons, firstly it means we know we have he facility for an extended period and secondly, it allows us to apply for grants to improve the facility. We have identified a grant which we can apply for next month, so are keen to get this resolved as a matter of urgency.

However, to do this we need to organise an EGM because, Eustace Crawley who was one of the Club’s Trustees on the existing lease, has died since the last lease was renewed.

Like most sports clubs Chippenham CC is unincorporated, which means it doesn’t have a legal existence and therefore Trustees act as legal owners for the benefit of members. On our current lease there were two Trustees, Eustace and Rebecca Nicolle from Chippenham Park Estate. The proposal is that we replace Eustace with Rebecca’s husband Hugo and also current club Chairman, Darren Hughes is added to the Trustees. So there will be 3 Trustees on the new lease.

To allow this be taken forward we need to hold an EGM, which will take place on Wednesday 28th January at 7pm in the Clubhouse (what was the Bowls Club). At the meeting there will be the chance to ask any questions and provide any views you have on the matter. At the end of the meeting we will take a vote on if people are happy to move forward with the 3 proposed trustees. I don’t expect the meeting to last more than 30 minutes but it is really important we have a good turn out from members and so they can vote. Therefore please do your best to find 30 minutes to attend on the night.
