Free Umpiring Training for Club Members

We have 3 opportunities over the next month for club members and/or parents age 14 years and over to get some help and advice on Umpiring. All these sessions are ideal for players and parents who may want to start umpiring for the first time and those who have been already involved in umpiring for overs in games during the summer but would welcome a refresher session and increase their knowledge and confidence to help with this important part of the game.. Below are the details and if you wish to attend any of them just email the club at or text Darren on 07881818047. Remember they are all free to attend.

Wednesday 3rd April 7pm - Over Community Centre

Sunday 7th April - 2pm Sawston & Babraham Cricket Club

These 2 sessions are run by Cambs Cricket and will be approximately two & a half hours, including a mid-session break. Sessions will be interactive with an emphasis on participation and will be led by experienced umpire tutors. Topics to be covered will include:Role of the umpire, signals, positioning, No Ball, Wide Ball, Appeals, Caught, LBW, Stumped, Run Out, Beamer & Bouncers.

Wednesday 17th April  7pm to 8pm - Stowupland Cricket Club, Church Road, Stowupland, IP14 4BG

This has been specifically created for parents / guardians, young leaders and anybody else who may be interested in supporting matches during the Summer. As well as general running of games there will also be guidance of the various formats we play in our junior club matches.
